The Big Issue Question
The Big Issue Question
In this Big Issue cover they have shown the group of abba but with the heads of MP's and The prime minster. The big heads could be a reference to the way the Big Issue thinks the group of politicians act. On the front cover they have mixed the two genres very well with the Globe in the top right acting as disco ball and showing the whole of Europe which corresponds with the topic of the front cover. They have also cleverly split the two sides of the EU leave and remain party's up. The two Remain partys are on the right and the two leave party's on the right. they have also blended in to the glistening background some voting paper which relates to the vote which would have happened a week later. The abba references in the front cover are mostly the song names which they have given an EU twist to. Even the main title has a Abba and EU twist to it. They have used intertextuality in the front cover as the song names or lyrics can be converted into the points and views of the politicians. The front cover consists of the current prime minister at the time David Cameron which put his career on the line because he thought we were going to stay in the EU and next to him is Nicola Stergen who is the Scottish Prime minster who also wanted to stay. The two leavers of the EU were on the right which was Borris Johnson and Nigel Ferrage.
